What We Do
At One Society Foundation, our goal is to secure state and federal funding and ensure the best use of available funds to convert hotels and motels into permanent supportive housing. Our approach combines the design, services, and comforts of hospitality as residential spaces to create unique environments that inspire the soul, improve local communities and minimize environmental impact. We believe it is the most economical and responsive way to address California’s growing homelessness crisis. By converting hotels and motels into supportive housing, we can provide revitalization opportunities and rebuild local communities cost-efficiently.
Hotel and motel conversions developed correctly and on time can provide a successful long-term solution adhering to the requirements necessitated by various state, federal, and local funding sources. Our goal is to strengthen and lift communities and make them economically empowered.
We strive to combine immediate housing with quality and vital support services by leveraging our Permanent Supportive Housing model.
The One Society Foundation team’s unique insights into the community’s needs allow us to streamline our endeavors and serve them in the best way possible. We address the community’s needs with a wide array of culturally appropriate, innovative, and effective services.
At One Society Foundation, We are committed to offering residents a full continuum of housing in private units along with individualized and specialized supportive services focused on the wellness, recovery, and resiliency of every individual. Housing from becoming homeless again.
Alongside site renovations, we also aim to focus on a community outreach program. This program addresses the community’s needs at the outset of a hotel or motel conversion and then works with local community service organizations for ongoing operations and service collaboration. We believe this will uplift communities, residents, counties and cities, alike.
Planning and Development
At One Society Foundation, we are focused on creating homes for people who need them most. Hence we are vested in:
- Reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing buildings
- Capital improvements to existing buildings.
- Construction of new housing development projects.
We take pride in our new development staff members who handle all aspects of these projects from start to completion. The process begins with seeking funds for the project from agencies like:
- The Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD)
- The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)
- The State of California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD)
- The City of Industry and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC). Const
Once funds are in place, we begin the development process without any delay. Our team weighs in the preliminary design concept for feasibility purposes and any site design issue. We select the best and seasoned architects, general contractors, and consultants to ensure a smooth and seamless development process.
Finally, we then hand over the project to the Property management Division to achieve occupancy. The Planning and Housing Development team works simultaneously and relentlessly to secure more and new funding projects and opportunities
